Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
133 AM EDT Sun Jun 1 2025

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will bring cool, dry conditions through the weekend.
Temperatures warm up for the start of the work week before rain
chances return on Wednesday into Wednesday night.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM THIS MORNING/...
Tranquil and unseasonably cool conditions are expected through
tonight as temps dip into the lower to mid 40s area-wide as
anomalously dry air settles into the region. This dry air, in
conjunction with maintenance of light NW sfc flow through daybreak,
should inhibit much in the way of fog potential.

Did limit the sky coverage/obscurity to a minimum of 30% through the
daytime Sunday, despite only a few cirrus from time-to-time. This is
an attempt to represent the sky obscuration due to the smoke aloft
which has drifted into the OH Vly. Even recognizing that the sky may
be cloudless for parts of tonight and again Sunday afternoon, the sky
cover fcst was set to a minimum of 30% to try to convey that it
won`t be a completely clear/un-obscured sky.

&&

.SHORT TERM /6 AM THIS MORNING THROUGH 6 PM MONDAY/...
High pressure moves overhead from the west on Sunday. Light
northerly flow keeps highs in the middle to lower 70s under abundant
sunshine. The surface high remains overhead on Sunday night which
will allow for efficient radiative cooling overnight. Forecast lows
drop into the upper 40s for most locations

&&

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Deep 500mb trough continues to push east, allowing for expanding
ridging over the area, with return flow becoming established and
temperatures returning to near normal on Monday. The ridge will
allow for dry conditions with above normal temperatures in the mid
80s by Tuesday as SW flow persists, allowing for increased moisture,
as surface dewpoints approach/exceed 60.

As the ridging begins to push east of the area on Wednesday,
increased southerly flow on the back side, allowing for continued
influx of low level moisture and temperatures increasing to the
upper 80s. The regional weather pattern will become more active,
with a return of shower and thunderstorm potential as the ridge
settles in the SE CONUS, allowing a mid level trough and associated
frontal boundary extending from the upper Mississippi Valley down to
the southern plains to slowly advance. With the ridge settling in
the SE CONUS by the Thu/Fri, it will prevent the progression of the
trough, allowing for several waves on instability riding along the
associated boundary over the mid Ohio Valley.

With plenty of clouds and precip in the region, temperatures will
moderate a bit in the upper 70s to lower 80s, but dewpoints in the
60s will linger through the period.

&&

.AVIATION /05Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
VFR will prevail through the period. A few cumulus could develop in
the Cincinnati area this afternoon. Otherwise just a bit of cirrus as
well as smoke aloft obscuring the sky, which is being reported in a
number of observations at a similar level as cirrus. Northwest winds
will increase to around 10 kt today and then become light and
variable tonight.

OUTLOOK...Thunderstorms are possible on Thursday.
